Beryl builds a Garden Room as a Hobby Studio for her Sewing

Beryl wanted more space in her small dormer bungalow on the North Wales coast where she could relax and enjoy her hobby of sewing. However, as a pensioner, a traditional house extension was beyond her financial means.

“It took Rubicon Garden Rooms just 12 days to build and create the extension, which also includes a utility area.

“The extension leads off my living room, and the difference it has made is amazing. It’s lovely and light, with French doors at the back – it has really changed the way I live,” said Beryl.

“I only have a little house, with two bedrooms, and previously my spare room was taken up with all my sewing things and fabric, so actually I never had anyone to come and stay.

“I wanted to use a bit more space downstairs, as I spend a lot of time sewing. Initially I thought I could incorporate a little lean-to, which I used as a utility room, into something – such as a conservatory – and that is what I started looking at.

“I nearly ordered a conservatory but changed my mind at the last minute when I realised that one of these Garden Rooms would be nicer and much more use to me all year round.

“I saw Rubicon Garden Rooms online and wanted to find something that was nearby so that I could go and see what they were doing and talk to people face-to-face about it. I went along to the showroom in Deeside and I was very impressed with what I saw, and with the Managing Director John Lyon.

“It was quite an investment so I took some time to think about it but eventually I decided to buy the Garden Room and treat myself, as I was still working but also had my pension coming in.

“I went back for another chat and told them what I wanted and they just came and did it. They knocked down the old lean-to and started again and created this lovely room, leading on from my main living area.

“I use it mainly as a dining area, which is great as I’ve never been able to do any entertaining. However, I also use it for my sewing hobby, so I have got my spare room back as well.

Rubicon Garden Rooms were just lovely to work with and did everything I asked. From the very beginning they gave me good advice and guidance and made it a really easy process throughout – I’d definitely recommend them to anybody else looking to extend their home simply and quickly.”
